It is known that Indian thought broke into the European Philosophy scene thanks to the enthusiasm aroused in Schopenhauer from the reading of the Latin version of the Upanisad, the first in the West, by Anquetil-Duperron, which appeared in the first years of the nineteenth century. Less known is that Anquetil- Duperron had based on a Persian translation, made in 1657 and sponsored by Prince Moghul Muhammad Dara Šikoh (1615-1659). The Muslim Dynasty of the Moghul, which reigned on India starting from 1526, had already shown great opening and interest in Indian knowledge, especially during the kingdom of Emperor Akbar, but his great -grandson, Dara Šikoh, went well a little further. Aimed to the Confraternity on the qadiriyya and follower of the doctrines of the great Muslim Muslim Ibn 'Arabi, through the assiduous frequency of Yogin and Hindu wise, came to the conclusion that compared to the su fi smo there was no "difference no difference, because lexical divergences, in their way of perceive and understand the truth ». In support of this thesis in 1655 he wrote the conjunction of the two oceans, in which he tried to show the punctual correspondence between the principles of the Hindu spiritual tradition and the one on fi. Thesis as bold as it is fearsome, which aroused a strong opposition from the most Orthodox 'ulama' - and which allowed his brother Awrangzeb to obtain a death sentence for apostasy and to take over the throne.
